Reinvigorate Your Lawn

Bare spots and thin, patchy grass are nightmares for a homeowner who takes pride in the appearance of their lawn. Watering won’t help when the soil is too hard to absorb the moisture, so the next step is to accelerate the regrowth process with a bit of outside assistance.

Boost Grass Health and Resilience

Are you noticing rock-hard soil that’s no longer absorbing water the way it should? Over time, the soil’s surface can become impermeable to water absorption. When this happens, it can’t get the air and nutrients it needs to grow healthy roots for your lawn. Core aeration relieves surface soil compaction, allowing water, air, and nutrients to reach the root zone, reducing thatch build-up, and enabling stronger, deeper roots for a healthier lawn. For optimal results, Green Valley does a double pass when seeding, creating more space for the new seed to germinate, resulting in a thicker lawn.

Improved Density and Coverage

If your yard's looking a little worse for wear with thinning spots in high-traffic areas, you're not alone, and it's not permanent. Overseeding is one of the simplest ways to fill in those gaps and get your lawn back to its full, green self. By combining core aeration with our top-rated, certified and NTEP 100% Tall Fescue overseeding, we give Central New Jersey homeowners lawns with improved density and coverage, stronger root development, and increased resilience to drought, disease, and foot traffic.

A Healthier, Thicker Lawn

With aeration and overseeding, you can enjoy a more resilient yard without the eyesores of bare spots and thinning grass. Green Valley offers these services in the fall, when grass and seeds have the best conditions for germination and root establishment.

Central New Jersey lawn care has its challenges, including dry, hot summers. The 100% Tall Fescue seeds we use offer improved drought and disease resistance, while featuring lateral spreading capabilities. Germination takes about two weeks, and we provide you with watering instructions so your newly seeded lawn thrives.

Frequetly Asked Questions

Find the answers to the most common questions about our services and process.

How often should aeration be performed?

Most lawns benefit from core aeration once a year in the fall. If your lawn has compacted soil, heavy foot traffic, or thinning grass, annual aeration combined with overseeding can help create a thicker, healthier lawn.

Will aeration remove weeds?

No. Core aeration won't remove existing weeds, but it helps create healthier, thicker turf that naturally crowds out future weed growth. For the best results, pair aeration with proper fertilization, overseeding, and a weed control program.

How long before new grass appears?

With the 100% tall fescue seed we use, you can expect germination in approximately 14 days under proper watering and ideal growing conditions. Continued watering and following our care recommendations will help your new lawn establish strong, healthy growth.

Can I mow after overseeding?

Yes, but wait until the new grass reaches about 3–4 inches tall before mowing. Use a sharp mower blade, remove no more than one-third of the grass height, and mow slowly to avoid stressing the new seedlings. Avoid mowing when the lawn is wet, as the shallow roots of new grass can be more easily torn or pulled out.

When should I water?

An initial watering right after seeding is recommended to help settle the seed and promote good seed-to-soil contact. After that, keep the soil consistently moist to support germination. Green Valley will provide detailed watering instructions by email to help ensure the best results.
